I brought back some herbs to go in my back garden as well: angelica, lady's mantle, motherwort, feverfew, lemon balm and mint. A few familiar faces there, and a good chance to learn about some new herbs that I'm less familiar with (and which I'll blog about soon).
It also got me to thinking that I'd like to formulate a herb gardeners hand cream - any suggestions from my fellow herbal bloggers for ingredients would be most welcome! :)

Thanks for all your hard work, Elizabeth, it was much appreciated!
ReplyDeleteFor a hand cream, how about calendula (for skin), plantain (drawing and bruising) and violet or marchmallow leaf (for moisturising) with a violet scent? (I guess you'd have to make a scentless variety for men and those who don't like scented things)
Noooooo add lavender, rosemary and thyme to the mix, lots of lavender ::grins:: Definitely add calendula and plantain maybe a little tea tree for its anti-bacterial properties as well? Baggsie being a tester when its perfected!
ReplyDeleteI make a lovely herbal gardener's bath soak with thyme, lavender, rosemary, cramp bark and a selection of essential oils, hmmm maybe a topic for a future MHG workshop. Keep us posted on the creams developments!

I don't think you should forget Comfrey as the Allantoin it contains makes it good for skin cell regeneration and helps heal damage as well as being good for improving resiliance. I make a hand wash which includes Teatree, comfrey decoction and I added some Bach Flower Remedy (Red Chestnut and Centaury) Good Luck with the choices and look forward to hearing about it Love Marion x
